Madonna Inn
2017 | 6th Anniversary trip
Friday - Feb 3 2017
Left a little late. Had to stop at RiteAid to get my meds. Starbucks for coffee and sammiches. Left about 10:20
Traffic wasn't too bad – until LA. Rain off and on. I talked non-stop about synthesizers and electronic music, while Mike tried to maintain consciousness.
Stopped at Jinky's for lunch. I ordered a caprese sammiches and a cup of chili. They have 20 different kinds of chili!!
Mike ordered the Agoura sammiches: chicken, mushroom, onion, jalapeƱos, cream cheese!!
Chili was good! Could have used a little more spice, but tasted yummy. Mike's sammiches was also good. We got Tex-Mex rolls. Also hella good. 4 stars!
Forgot charger. Went to BestbBuy across street to get.
Our room is the Dot n Daisy room. It's sooooo '70s. Giant pink and white daisys on a light green polkadot background. Carpet is burgundy shag.
Bathroom wallpaper is deep pink sparkles. Sink is an old-world painted pedestal. There's also green stained wood paneling. We have a balcony! There are two entrances to the room. Popcorn ceiling has sparkles in it.
Dinner was opulent. Expensive. Good. ($140 before tip)
They brought out a balloon that said "happy anniversary", and put it on our table.
Not long after, the couple sitting at the table next to us moved to another table. Maybe they didn't like being so close to the gays. Or maybe they wanted a circle booth with a better view of the band. Oh well, their loss.
There was a band. It was perfect. Quiet, added to the experience. Nice.
Woman in wedding party behind us bought us drinks. I guess to celebrate our anniversary. Neat!
Wedding party also had a Gender Ambiguous Child (GAC) with a Skrillex haircut. I kept starring and couldn't figure things out.
The waitress brought us a complimentary dessert cake (pink champagne cake).
After dinner, I stopped by the famous bathroom. It really is a waterfall you pee into. But I suddenly turned into Mike and got pee-shy, because there were 6 other people there, including the GAC (guess he was a boy, after all). When he finished peeing, he saw me and said "happy anniversary!"
I said "thank you very much!" And smiled.
So… I guess Mike and I were representing "the gay", and it didn't go unnoticed.
Saturday - Feb 4
I woke up about 2 am. Tummy was NOT happy with all that meat I ate. A little cats claw helped, then back to sleep.
Morning sleep in. Then off to brunch at Splash. Mike had some clam chowder that he said was great! I had a veggie burger. It was ok. They also had pastries. I got a cherry danish, and a lemon curd and berry pastry for us to split. Both were hella good.
We then drove to downtown-ish. Went to Boo Boo Records, then walked to Starbucks so Mike could poop again. Had coffee there. Some motorcycle group was also there.
Walked around. There were a group of about 5 or 6 women marching and protesting Trump, specifically about defunding the EPA. When they walked past the motorcycle gang, they all revved their engines and were just generally douchey motorcycle fucktards.
Back to the car. Tried to find a patch for Mike, but no luck.
Back to hotel. Chilled out a couple hours. Then went to Central Coast Brewing. Mike ordered a flight of 6 tasters. I bought us a couple hats (for $50!!! Jezuz). His fav brew was the Monterey Street Pale Ale.
We then walked to The Naked Fish for sushi. It was about .6 mile walk. We had:
- Philly Roll
- Spicy tuna with cream cheese
- Tahoe Crunch Roll*
- (Tempura Fried) Garlic Albacore, Cream Cheese, Avocado, Macadamia Nuts, Eel & Pesto Sauce
- Hot 'n Wild*
- Spicy Tuna, Cucumber, Seared Tuna and Avo & Citrus Soy Glaze
- Nacho Mama
- Chopped Tako, Avocado, Wasabi Tobiko. Topped with Cajun Ahi, Hamachi & Corn Chips. Finished with Roasted Red Pepper Aioli & Tempura Crunchies
Walked back to car. Then drove to Pismo Beach and walked around a little. Then to the Sycamore Spa hot tubs.
They have mineral water fed hot tubs on the side of the hill. Each is secluded, so you can go naked.
We rented a tub for an hour. It was nice! A bit chilly out (about 56 degrees ) but the water was perfect. About 102
Left there, and went back to hotel. Chilling on balcony right now
Sunday - Feb 5
(Remembering a year later)
Went to Morro Bay for brekki. Walked around a bit, then started to drive back home. Visited Tim, Jeff, and Corey on way home. Got to see Pugsley trucking around in his wheelie cart.
