Saturday - Jan 30

mike-paulasWoke up late. Lounged around. Went to brekkie about 10:30 to Paula's Pancakes. It was misting like an England summer day.

robbierobotWent to buy shoes. Got stopped by Asians wanting to take my picture. I am now Richard Bitar. The clogs didn't fit well, so I didn't get them. Went to get pretzels and cheese. Walked to toy store. Had a cool metal War of the Worlds alien red octopus thing, and an awesome Robby the Robot

Stopped by little mermaid statue. Got some slo-mo video. Back to room. Changed and relaxed

Got coffee on way to breweries

Firestone brewery in Buellton. I had a giant pretzel. Mike had spicy chick wings and a flight of beers. Bought shirt and hat

Figueroa Mountain Brewery. Mike got another flight of beer. Sat outside on benches. People were playing horseshoes. BBQ pit. Groups of people stopping by. Was a nice atmosphere.

Came back to hotel. Mike went in the pool for a bit. It was cold AF, so I decided to just hang out and watch him in the pool. I did some shopping on Old Navy, then we went out to dinner across the street at Solvang brewery

There was a very loud group of people having a party or something behind us. We ordered fried pickles, and one very fat girl saw that we ordered pickles and she said "Oh my God! These are the best fucking pickles! These are great pickles, and I should know because I'm fat. These are great pickles!" and then she went and talked to people at the party, then she turned around and came over and said "Hey, can I just have a bite?". I was all "no!"

And she got a little butt hurt and turn around to talk to people at the table behind us again. Later, she came back and sat down right next to Mike! He was extremely uncomfortable. She started talking to us and said "don't worry, I'm not gonna have a bite of your pickles". She wanted to know where we are from, and then she told us this story about… something. No idea what. And then she got up and walked away.

The food was pretty good, actually. We stopped at the liquor store and came back to the hotel and I pooped and pooped and pooped. Yay, travel tummy.

Went to Mad & Vin to get a drink. Mike had a Negroni that was amazing. I had a Hendrick's and tonic. It was ok. Then we walked around. Saw a band playing in a tasting room/bar. About to go in, then saw 2 couples doing the "Adams Avenue dance", and decided to skip it. Walked around the town, then back to hotel.

Sunday - Jan 31

Woke early. Raining and windy. Mike had leftover jalapeƱos.

Went to Greenhouse Cafe for brekkie. We had aebleskeiver. It was yummy.

Was raining, then started to really downpour. Cleared up, so we walked to chocolatier and got stuff for Mike. Chocolate covered jellies.

Stopped in a Danish/Scandanivian art museum. I bought a red bouncy guy thing. Can't remember the name sight now. Steve had one in Switzerland, and I was totally jealous of it. SO of course, as an adult, I had to get one for myself.

Drove home.
